When it comes to marketing, make sure you are ticking the right boxes.

Earlier this week, I had a post appear on Facebook from a company stating that by using their foolproof method, it is possible to reach hundreds of thousands of potential customers without paying for a single ad. It had a glossy video to accompany it and everything.

However, this was a sponsored post appearing in my Facebook stream. A sponsored post.

The irony was not lost on me.

In its most simplistic form, marketing can be distilled into three main tasks or objectives:

  1. Find the right target market – Who’s going to buy your product or service?
  2. Come up with the right message – What are you going to tell them to convince them that your product or service is right for them?
  3. How are you going to get that message in front of them?

This company on Facebook didn’t get that last task right, and arguably failed on all three.

If you run an SME or startup then it can be tricky to get all three of these objectives right. So please come and talk to me and I can help you tick all three boxes.
